Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the traditional medical science of China. TCM is based on different concepts:
* the principle of Yin and Yang,
* five elements theory and the
* theory of meridians.
Yin and Yang are forces or forms of energy opposite and complementary, alternating constant as day and night or hot and cold. Bodies and human body are categorized according to the system of Yin and Yang. There is a cyclical interaction between the "five elements", wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Each pair of Yin and Yang is an organ of the body, according to its properties, one of five elements. This causes the interactions between organ systems that determine the origin and course of disease. According to TCM, the meridians are the pathways through which vital energy circulates qi in the body. The meridians connect the organs and body regions into functional units. When Qi flows freely throughout the body, the person is healthy. If the flow of Qi is disrupted, there is disease. TCM uses various methods of diagnosis and therapy, among others, pulse diagnosis and tongue, phytotherapy, various forms of acupuncture, body therapies (An Mo / Tui Na), acupressure, dietary consultations and therapies of movement and breathing, such as Qi-Gong and Tai Chi.
Tibetan medicine is very close to the basic philosophy of Buddhism. According to Buddhist concepts, the three physical energies, bile, mucus and gas control all body functions. The energies are closely related to the seven components of the body (food, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow and semen) and three secreted fluids (sweat, urine, feces). Health is about balance and harmony. Diseases are the result of a "spiritual ignorance", when the human being is perceived as an individual separate from his environment. The three "spiritual poison" (hatred, ignorance and greed) leads to an energy imbalance and health disorders. External factors such as diet, lifestyle and weather can also influence health. The goal of Tibetan medicine is to rebalance the body energy discordant. The recommendations for lifestyle and optimal nutrition are the first step in a Tibetan therapy. It also uses physical therapy procedures, such as massages, baths, bloodletting, moxibustion and acupuncture. Tibetan medicines are special mixtures containing substances, vegetable, mineral or animal, administered as a powder, tablet or juice.
Ayurvedic medicine is based on the concept of five elements Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth which is made all that exists in the universe. Bioenergy five elements are concentrated in the three doshas: Vata Dosha, consists of the Air and Ether, the Pitta Dosha, Fire and Water, and Kapha Dosha-Earth and Water. According to the principles of Ayurveda, each body is formed by a combination of the three doshas individual. Determine the type of Dosha patient is the most important step for effective treatment. Ayurvedic diagnostic procedures include monitoring pulse, examining the tongue, feces and urine, listening, and palpation of the patient, the eye examination, observation of general appearance and that vital astrological data. Treatment aims to reactivate the body's healing potential and restoring the balance of doshas. Therapeutic measures include dietary advice, purification and detoxification of the body (fasting, enemas, sweating, vomiting and trigger sneezing, bleeding), oil massages, steam baths, herbal medicines or minerals, exercises yoga and breathing, as well as rules of conduct.
